At the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) patients and scientists enter through the same door. This is more than just a symbol: NCT Dresden has made it its duty to connect research and patient care as closely as possible. That is why cancer patients in Dresden are treated based on the latest research results, which - in this form - is outstanding throughout Europe.
The supporting institutions of NCT Dresden are the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) Heidelberg, the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden, the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf.
After construction is completed in 2019, NCT Dresden will receive an annual funding of 15 million euro, financed in a 90:10 ratio by the federal government and the Saxon government. For the new NCT building on the grounds of the University Hospital, the State of Saxony is allocating another 22 million euro.
The new NCT building will host the operating room of the future, laboratories, areas for clinical trials as well as rooms for medical treatment and radiotherapy.
