The term sarcoma covers malignant tumors of soft tissues and bones, for which highly specialized diagnostics and therapy are necessary to treat patients successfully. Due to the rarity of these tumors, treatment at specialized centers is of particular importance.
To meet this demand, the Sarcoma Center Dresden was founded in 2016. It is part of the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC), which has been funded by German Cancer Aid as an Oncological Center of Excellence for the treatment of cancer since 2007.
The Sarcoma Center at the NCT/UCC Dresden fulfills the quality criteria set by the German Cancer Society and has been awarded the distinction "Sarcoma Center with Recommendation of the German Cancer Society e.V.". In addition, the Sarcoma Center has a certified quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
The aim of the Sarcoma Center is to optimize the complex process of diagnosis and therapy of bone and soft tissue sarcomas in patients in childhood, adolescence and adulthood by bundling expertise and infrastructures according to existing guidelines and study protocols.
