Sarcoma Center

Welcome

The term sarcoma covers malignant tumors of soft tissues and bones, for which highly specialized diagnostics and therapy are necessary to treat patients successfully. Due to the rarity of these tumors, treatment at specialized centers is of particular importance.

To meet this demand, the Sarcoma Center Dresden was founded in 2016. It is part of the National Center for Tumor Diseases Dresden (NCT/UCC), which has been funded by German Cancer Aid as an Oncological Center of Excellence for the treatment of cancer since 2007.

The Sarcoma Center at the NCT/UCC Dresden fulfills the quality criteria set by the German Cancer Society and has been awarded the distinction "Sarcoma Center with Recommendation of the German Cancer Society e.V.". In addition, the Sarcoma Center has a certified quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001.

The aim of the Sarcoma Center is to optimize the complex process of diagnosis and therapy of bone and soft tissue sarcomas in patients in childhood, adolescence and adulthood by bundling expertise and infrastructures according to existing guidelines and study protocols.

At the Sarcoma Center Dresden, a multidisciplinary team of specialists and state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities are available for diagnosis and therapy.

In the interdisciplinary sarcoma board, which meets twice a week, all patient histories are discussed and the optimal treatment strategy for each individual case is determined.

Through our study center, we also have the opportunity to offer you new drug developments or combination therapies, sometimes in the earliest stages of development (within the Phase I unit) within the framework of scientific studies.

As a certified sarcoma center, we are in active exchange with other sarcoma centers within the framework of national and international networks in order to further advance and optimize the diagnosis, therapy and support of patients with sarcoma.

Supportive services such as psycho-oncological care, oncological nursing rounds, physiotherapy or socio-legal advice are an integral part of our therapy concept.

The DKG certification as a sarcoma center covers the treatment of adult sarcoma patients. In addition, children and adolescents with sarcomas are cared for in close cooperation with the Children's Oncology Center at the NCT/UCC Dresden, which is also certified according to the requirements of the DKG.

On the following pages you will find general information about the Sarcoma Center, our range of services, the treatment procedures and the various consultation hours. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
