They take their time and address in detail the individual concerns of cancer patients, but also their relatives and all those seeking advice. They provide quality-assured information, give professional guidance and provide addresses of counseling centers and other contacts.
By the end of 2021, the team in Dresden had answered approximately 52,000 telephone inquiries. In cooperation with the NCT/UCC, the physicians of the Cancer Information Service in Dresden also offer a personal consultation hour by appointment. Cancer patients from the Dresden region and their relatives have the opportunity to receive background information on their disease and all related topics in a personal consultation. It is not mandatory to bring along previous medical reports, but this can be helpful for certain questions.
This offer is free of charge and takes place without personal data documentation. Important to know: The offer of the cancer information service does not replace the individual medical consultation or the second medical opinion. Your telephone registration for a personal consultation is gladly accepted at the headquarters of the Cancer Information Service in Heidelberg at 06221-42 2890. You will then be called back by colleagues at the Dresden field office for an appointment. Patients of the NCT/UCC who need an appointment in the consultation hours contact the registration desk of the NCT/UCC outpatient clinic as usual.
Those who prefer to write to the Cancer Information Service can email krebsinformationsdienst(at)dkfz.de. The physicians of the e-mail service guarantee a response within two working days.
You can also find extensive information, contact persons and other offers such as free brochures and flyers at www.krebsinformationsdienst.de.
