Both organ transplants and skin tumors can cause psychosocial distress, leading to a reduced quality of life. Despite the increasing incidence of various types of skin cancer and the increasing life expectancy and thus increasing complications of organ transplant patients, only a few studies have dealt with their psychomental stress to date. Support services are therefore often unfocused and not geared to the current needs of patients. To close this knowledge gap, we want to conduct a study to examine in more detail the physical, psychological, and social stressors, as well as the support needs of both immunocompetent and organ transplant skin cancer patients. Furthermore, suitable support services and their utilization will be identified in order to develop optimized services based on this information.
A questionnaire will be used to investigate the psychological, physical, and social stresses associated with skin cancer and the extent of the need for psycho-oncological support.
