Courses for the summer semester 2024

In this practical course we will work on current research topics of computer- and robot-assisted surgery in close collaboration with partners from the University Hospital Dresden. The projects deal with endoscopic image analysis, segmentation, soft-tissue modellation and visualization via augmented reality in the context of computer-based support systems. The course will work on these projects together as a team. In total there are 12 spots available.

Basic knowledge in C++ is mandatory.

Enrollment: ricarda.abdel-bary(at)nct-dresden.de

Contents of this module is the intra-disciplinary application and communication of a research topic in the area of computer- and robot-assisted surgery. Students will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge of machine-learning and computer-vision to solve problems in a team in this research field.

Courses for the winter semester 2023/24

This elective course is covering the field of computer- and robot-assisted surgery. It deals with the medical process from preoperative image acquisition to intraoperative assistance along the path of surgical treatment. The main focuses of this lecture are imaging methods, computer-based processing of imaging data, basics of robot and navigation systems, and intraoperative support and visualization via augmented reality. Various examples from research projects and clinical practice as well as interactive exercises and trainings in small groups will provide a good overview on this interdisciplinary field.

First session: 11.10., 15:45, APB/E008 (presentation of topics and contents), the following sessions will be held upon consultation, place: NCT Dresden (House 2, University Hospital Dresden)
