Running weather, atmosphere, results: First class!

The 8th NCT/UCC charity run, “FortSCHRITT gegen Krebs” (Progress against Cancer), held in the Großer Garten, was a great success. With perfect running weather, around 1,000 runners created a fantastic atmosphere and set new records.

On the approximately two-kilometre course around the Palais Pond, a total of 6,026 laps were completed between 4 and 6 p.m. Together, the individual runners and numerous teams covered a record distance of 12,052 kilometres.

Along the route, the Mini Pearls of the Dresden Monarchs cheerleading squad helped create a great atmosphere. Those in need of some recovery after the run could enjoy a massage provided by physiotherapists from the Carus Academy. Dresden canoeist Tom Liebscher-Lucz, fresh from winning his eighth World Championship gold medal with the four-man canoe team, also enthusiastically cheered on the participants. He has supported the NCT charity run since it was first held in 2019.

The donations chosen by participants for each lap completed will support, among other things, cancer research projects and the continued expansion of sports therapy for children with cancer, as well as sports therapy services for adult patients at Dresden University Hospital and NCT/UCC Dresden.

The charity run was organised by NCT/UCC in cooperation with Sonnenstrahl e. V., Schlösserland Sachsen and the Stiftung Hochschulmedizin Dresden. The event was hosted by Dresden University Hospital.
