Members

Members of the Patient Council include:

Karin Arndt

Spokesperson of the Patient Council

Board member of the German Sarcoma Foundation

In 2005 I was diagnosed with an extremely rare, very malignant tumor (clear cell sarcoma) that had already metastasized. Since then, I have been committed to improving treatment quality, especially in the field of sarcomas, and I am a board member of the German Sarcoma Foundation. I am also a member of the Patient Council of the DKFZ in Heidelberg.

Research plays an extremely important role, especially in the case of malignant diseases. Through my involvement in various research projects, I also joined the Patient Council of the NCT/UCC in Dresden, which also now participates in numerous research projects in order to integrate our perspective and experience as patients as early as possible. As a Patient Council, we are of course also the point of contact for cancer patients and their relatives.

Barbara Hauptmann

Patient representative

Head of the leukemia and lymphoma self-help group in Dresden

In 2008 I was diagnosed with lymphoma. After spending two years recovering, I started looking for a volunteer project to be involved in. I have since joined four. As a patient representative on the Patient Council of NCT/UCC Dresden I enjoy advocating for the concerns of patients and their relatives.

Mathias Jatzlauk

Deputy Spokesperson of the Patient Council

In 2016 I developed malignant melanoma. Two years later, doctors found two brain metastases and several metastases in my abdomen. Since 2018, I have been participating successfully in a medical trial at University Hospital Dresden.
I have been a member of the Patient Council at NCT/UCC Dresden since 2020.

Wolfgang Krämer

Deputy Spokesperson of the Patient Council

I have been closely associated with University Hospital Dresden since 2011, when I started receiving treatment for multiple myeloma. Because of this diagnosis, I am involved in the Patient Council of NCT/UCC Dresden, where I can actively advocate for the concerns and needs of patients and their relatives.

Gereon Mänzel

Patient representative
Board member and patient representative of Leukämiehilfe RHEIN-MAIN e.V.

In 2012 I was diagnosed with myelodisplastic syndrome (MDS). From the beginning, I have been a patient at University Hospital Dresden and also received a stem cell transplant here. I gradually became involved in the patient self-help organization Leukämiehilfe RHEIN-MAIN – first as a patient seeking help and today as a patient representative for MDS and AML patients, and also as a board member.
As well as supporting patients and their relatives, I am particularly keen to contribute my experience as a patient to research and development.

Peter Musil

Patient representative

I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma at University Hospital Dresden through an incidental finding in 2019. Thanks to the exemplary treatment and care at NCT/UCC Dresden, I am currently classed as recovered. I am pleased to have been part of the Patient Council since 2021.

Solveig Reppert

Patient representative

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 1996. I have been involved in the Patient Council since 2012 and support patients and their relatives – among other things, as a contact person in the Patient Café.

Susanne Schmitt

Patient representative

After being diagnosed with Myelodisplastic Syndrome (MDS), I successfully underwent an allogeneic stem cell transplantation at Dresden University Hospital in 2016.
An oncological disease of my husband moved me to support the work of the Patient Council of the NCT/UCC in 2023. I would like to contribute as a patient to research and development as well as to assist patients and their relatives with questions and concerns.

Ute Stahl

Patient representative

In 2004 I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). In 2008 I received an allogeneic stem cell transplant at University Hospital Dresden. I have been volunteering as a patient representative at NCT/UCC Dresden for several years. I like to be a contact person for patients and their relatives. In order to be well prepared for this, I use my own personal experience and also participate in online seminars run by the Patient Expert Academy for Tumor Diseases (PEAK) to further my education.

Jana Weinhold

Patient representative

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in February 2022. Four months of outpatient chemotherapy were followed by high-dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation. I have been a member of the Patient Council since 2023 and am keen to be actively involved in the field of research.
